This 311-acre property boast of big deer and gobbling long beards. With the east fork of the Grand River running through the west side of property, row crop, food plots, prairie grass, and it joining the Iowa border you should have the opportunity for some excellent hunting. Just in case you haven't heard, those big Iowa Deer don't know where the state line is! All kidding aside, this farm has been strictly managed for deer hunting. The present owners bow hunt only, and they have learned how to take the natural deer habitat and turn it into a deer haven. Presently there are 5 different food plots that total around 5 1/2 acres all together. They are not all the same size, but they all have oats, turnips, and a radish mix. They also plant around 17 acres of row crop. They normally plant both corn and beans, and rotate crops each year. Sometimes they harvest the crop, but most of the time they don't and in the late season they will brush hog an acre or two and set their blinds in the remaining standing crop. This has offered chances to shoot some nice bucks. They also have prairie grass just about everywhere there isn't timber. These pictures where taken in the springtime, give it another month and the prairie grass will be head high. There are 5 ponds and a couple smaller watering holes throughout the property. This leaves around 193 acres of timber. The owners seldom go to the northwest corner of the property, with it having an excellent natural bedding area. They don't want the deer's bedding sanctuary to be bothered.
Besides offering excellent deer and turkey hunting, it has a nice 2-bedroom house on a full basement. The inside is finished off with wood, which gives it a real cabin look. It has a wood stove included. It has two nice decks to look out over the countryside and pond. Also included is a 55×35 metal building with an attached 35×16 lean-to, and another attached 14×55 enclosed lean-to. There is another 80×30 storage/horse barn. Therefore, you have more than enough inside space to park all of your equipment and hunting toys. The neighboring landowner also manages his farm for deer hunting. With both of these landowners managing their farms, it would explain the 190-class buck that was shot a few years ago. If you have been looking for that farm that offers excellent hunting, fishing, and a home with beautiful countryside views, this is the one for you.
