Known as the Shingle Mill property, It is a splendid and pristine property which features McCorn Creek running through the valley below Huddle Hill Road in Van Etten, NY, as well as a wonderful open meadow and mature forests. The creek once contained a raceway and mill used to make cedar shingles. This was in the late 1800's from what I understand. The remains of the raceway for the mill, as well as the earthen dam built to control water flow, are still visible. Flora and fauna abound in the valley and the woods. Brook trout and brown trout inhabit the stream, which is a feeder to Cayuta Creek, which in turn runs south to the Susquehanna River. There is at least one beaver dam in the creek on our property. Signs of bears that come across the property are occasionally seen. Near the intersection of Kies Rd. and Huddle Hill Rd. is an open meadow of about 25 acres and it is cut for hay each season. Beautiful vistas to the south look many miles, perhaps into Pennsylvania. Enjoy camping and the peace and quiet with your family.
There is in place a program with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), a branch of the US Agriculture Department. The property consists of about 270 acres, according to a survey from the 1970's and other information (five tax parcels). There is timber on it that is probably ready to be selectively timbered, There is a lot of road frontage on Huddle Hill Rd. fronting on the meadow and the frontage continues easterly and then northerly as one of our boundaries. Action priced, sure to please at first sight
